Stoned Records Demos 1-6

Stoned Records Demos 1-6

Set of two late 1977 Swedish box sets. The first box (numbered 1 of 2) contains six albums on nine discs (comprised of the entire discography of Stoned Records): Roxy Music "Why Do You Think I'm A Funky Chick?", Patti Smith "I Never Talked To Bob Dylan", Jimi Hendrix "Guitar Hero (The Unreleased Album)", Black Sabbath "Killing Yorself To Die", Queen "Invite You To A Night At The Warehouse", and Lou Reed "What Ever Happened To Dick And Steve?". Each title is housed in a full color laminated cover. The multi-discs sets have gatefold covers. The set comes in a laminated box with hinged lid, which has a description of its contents on bottom and describes the set as a boxed set of demo copies. This complete set is in great shape, with all discs and covers ranging from VG+ to M- condition. The second box contains test pressings of the same six albums. Four of these include covers, the other two (Roxy Music and Lou Reed) come in generic white die-cut covers. The condition of the test pressings range from VG to VG+, and the covers are mostly VG with moderate wear throughout. The test pressing for Lou Reed's "What Ever Happened To Dick And Steve?" has a scratch at the beginning of side one that skips twice. The outer box is identical to the first set, only it is numbered 2 of 2.

Also includes multiple Stoned Records mail-order forms, a few copies of a label discography (and mock-up for the label discography), artist proofs for label design, original drawings of label designs, original drawings for the box design, unused labels for some of the releases, and blank labels with no printing. Includes correspondence between Stoned Records and the person who designed the labels (including an original contract for use of the design) and a few back-and-forth correspondences (in Swedish). Also includes the original typed version of the liner notes that appear on the back of the Queen gatefold cover.

A very unique, perhaps one-of-a-kind trove of "fan club" LPs and ephemera!
